MY PERSONAL ART DECO LAMP
Over the last two years I have been exploring the designs of Art Deco Furniture, thanks to a wonderful client who chose me to create their Art Deco
Vision. I always had an interest in Art Deco design, The Chrysler Building and the Hotels of South Beach Miami being personal favorites, but somehow I never designed or built a piece in this style until that
fortunate commission. Since then I have seen many exhibitions that featured Art Deco furniture and devoured many books on the subject.
As for this Art Deco Lamp, it has always been a part of my life. It lived on a shelf in my Grandparents house for all the years they owned it. When they passed on the lamp came to my parent's home for many years after. It was a piece I had always admired, but never dreamed it would come to be mine. Well, one day my father asked if I would like to have it.... YOU BET!!!, I said without hesitation. And then it came to live on my shelf.
The lamp's history outside of my family is unknown to me. I always thought of it as a very special piece in my life.
Now that I am working in the Art Deco style myself, the lamp has become even more significant. It is the center piece of our living room and, as you can see, it is featured here on my web site and also in my
printed support materials. I have searched through many books on antiques and Art Deco design looking for it with no luck. If you have anything to share about this piece please contact me.
